At Uptowne Dental Centre in Toronto, our dentist's are pleased to offer both inlays and onlays as a cosmetic option to fix your damaged teeth.
What are Inlays & Onlays?
Inlays & onlays are both dental procedures that involve an indirect restoration to a tooth that is too damaged to be fixed by normal dental fillings but has not sustained enough damage to require a complete dental crown.
Both inlays & onlays are constructed beforehand to fit a specifically sized and shaped cavity and with a material that is made to match the colour of your tooth. Once the inlay or onlay filling has been constructed it will then be permanently cemented to the inside or outside of the tooth.
What is the Difference Between Inlays and Onlays?
An inlay is a type of filling that is constructed to fit inside the tooth. In contrast, an onlay is constructed to be cemented to the inside of the tooth but also extends to the outside surface of the tooth.
